A community-driven solution to poverty.
At the very core of Circles is the belief that relationships that bring us together are not only vital to our well-being, but also have the power to transform and uplift our lives. Social isolation is one of the great sicknesses of our modern age, and poverty is, in part, one of its worst by-products.
The mission of Circles is to create a compassionate and helpful community amongst the participants. Our program not only opens doors to greater financial stability, but also creates feelings of belonging, empowerment, and purpose. This combination has the potential to transform individuals, families, and even reshape entire communities.
Circles Reduces Poverty
Gone are the days of poverty management systems rooted in power imbalances and transactional relationships. At Circles, we focus on building relationships that can nurture lasting change. These connections are at the very heart of our program that offer not only friendship and guidance, but also access to community resources. Through these connections, participants can develop new skills, find better paying jobs and pursue affordable educational/training opportunities. This comprehensive approach allows for meaningful and genuine progress.
Circles Changes Communities
In Circles, volunteers and participants grow and learn together. While participants navigate their way toward economic stability, volunteers get an in-depth education on the context of poverty and a new perspective of their community. At monthly “Big View” meetings, city leaders, business owners, and other community members are invited in so the community can work together to identify, discuss, and often resolve barriers that keep people in poverty.
Circles is Working
Communities across the nation are using Circles because the results are so encouraging. After 18 months, those in the program achieve an average 71% increase in their income, and they experience an increase in the number of people they can call on for support. Communities have also seen changes at the system level, revising unjust eviction policies, fighting predatory loan practices, and engaging in advocacy efforts to mitigate the Cliff Effect. Circles has real, proven impact.
GET INVOLVED
Become a Circle Leader
Do you feel stuck? Do you want a better job? Are you tired of living paycheck-to-paycheck? Do you want to improve yourself and achieve your goals?
Circle Leaders are the central figures of our program actively working towards economic and financial stability. As a Circle Leader, you will take the ‘lead’ in your journey out of poverty, but you will never walk that path alone.
You will be surrounded by organized teams providing you with guidance, friendship, access to community resources, better paying jobs, skill development, etc.
Together, we’ll help you build a caring and comprehensive network of support making the journey to financial stability engaging, fun, and achievable.
Volunteer with Circles
Make a meaningful impact in your community by volunteering with the Circles program. As a volunteer, you’ll play a crucial role in helping individuals and families work towards moving out of poverty. Your involvement can include:
Providing Support and Guidance: Offer encouragement, mentorship, and practical advice as individuals and families set and pursue their goals. Your role will help build their confidence and provide crucial support on their journey.
Sharing Your Expertise: Contribute your skills, talents, and connections in areas like job placement, education, and community services. Your expertise will help create valuable opportunities and resources for those in need.
Creating a welcoming environment: We host weekly meetings, and we need folks who are interested in creating a warm and hospitable space – whether that be providing weekly meals, helping develop youth programming, childcare, greeting, etc.
By volunteering, you’ll help to create a strong, supportive network that empowers people to transform their lives and create lasting change in the community.
