We have been fortunate in the first half of this year to benefit from three successful events. The events were well attended and received, and helped raise much needed awareness and funds for programs addressing family homelessness in Essex County.
On May 8, a star studded line up of Broadway performers gave generously of their time and talents for the “When I Think of Home” fundraiser held at The Woodland in Maplewood. It was a spectacular affair with incredible performances, refreshments, and an impressive selection of silent auction items donated by generous merchants and individuals, including a pair of tickets to the hit Broadway production, Hamilton!
We are so grateful to the organizers of this event, FPE Board Member Chris Murphy, and Broadway veteran Robert DuSold for pulling out all the stops to make this a very successful fundraiser for FPE. We hope this will be an annual event, so stay tuned!
On May 11, FPE was given an exclusive opportunity to make a presentation about the organization and its mission to a select group of individuals at a breakfast event hosted at Cipriani Wall Street, by Morgan Stanley of Short Hills.
FPE Board Chair Kathy Stine and Executive Director Emma Justice made presentations to the group, followed by a newly launched video (sponsored in part by Partners for Health in Monctlair) viewing about the work of FPE. After the event, the group was hosted at the New York Stock Exchange by reality T.V. personality Kevin O’Leary of Shark Tank for a tour of the NYSE. Thanks to Jeff Peyser of Morgan Stanley for sponsoring this event, and giving FPE the opportunity to reach new audiences.
Our Sip ‘N’ Support fundraiser on June 1st held at Canoe Brook Country Club, was a great success! The fundraiser centered around a giving tree and silent auction of exclusive jewelry by Lerajewels.com. The giving tree raised funds to support such vital necessities as: first and last month rent; household goods and pantry items for newly re-housed FPE families; bus cards (transportation for families); camp sponsorship; and supplies for kids participating in area summer camps.
We are grateful to FPE Board Members and event co-chairs Kathy Stine and Denise Glassman for organizing this event, to Artist Susan Marshall for donating her time and talent to create the giving tree, Ronit Tarshis of Lerajewels for her beautiful collection of jewelry, the wonderful young musicians of Newark Academy for keeping our guests entertained, our volunteers, and last but not least, the guests who patronized the event.
